Investment Capital Ukraine Group (ICU) has formally called on Ukrainian Deputy Sergii Leshchenko to refute the libelous information he published about ICU in January 2018.
ICU made the demand within the framework of a pre-trial settlement of dispute.
ICU also demanded that 1+1 TV channel refute the slanderous accusations made in Ukrainian Sensations, a TV program aired by 1+1 on 10th of February 2018.
Finally, ICU sent a request to The Institute of Law and Society, a public organization co-founded and led by Yuriy Karmazin, to obtain a copy of the so-called legal opinion, to which Institute representatives referred when they spread defamatory information about ICU during a press-conference on 25th of January 2018.
"This is not the first time that the Group has been the target of sponsored misinformation campaigns on behalf of certain individuals and political forces. We respect the right of journalists, media, public organizations and members of the parliament to criticize, but we will not allow them to discredit the reputation of ICU through dirty information and outright lies", said Makar Paseniuk, Managing Partner of ICU.
Should these individuals and entities to fully refute and disavow the defamatory information they have disseminated, ICU will move to defend its interests in court.
